Clare was born on 12 May 1973, and went to St Philip's, then St. Peter's primary schools in Hazel Grove, Stockport; followed by All Hallows in Macclesfield and Manchester Metropolitan University where she gained her B Ed degree. As an adult she lived in the Cheadle Hulme and Sale areas of south Manchester and worked for several (mostly healthcare) companies in the northwest; managing administration, complaints, or distribution.
Clare was diagnosed with breast cancer (and two recurrences) and went through several rounds of surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, chest drains and diagnostic procedures of many kinds over 7 years where she remained warm, generous, thoughtful and funny throughout. She enjoyed life to the full whenever well enough, and took particular pleasure in her home, travelling, cooking, Christmas, and just driving her car.
In October 2010 she married Matt, her partner of five years, and the love between them lit up everyone around. Although becoming seriously ill during 2012, she kept on protecting her family by minimising her illness, and not wanting any fuss or flapping. In her last months she showed great courage and dignity. We are all in awe of her great fighting spirit, which never faltered even to the end. She kept our spirits up and always looked on the positive side- even planning for the future just hours before the second bout of aspiration pneumonia and her death that night.
She was a much loved and wonderful daughter, sister, cousin, aunt and wife, and will always be remembered by all her friends and family.
28 July 2012 was far, far too early: but she will be pleased by the contributions made in her name on this page. After all, she herself raised money for cancer research by completing the 13K Shine night-walk in Manchester, during a short remission in 2011. What a star! She will shine brightly in our hearts for ever.
If you haven't already done so, please see the video tribute that Matt has made http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4tIDhxaIGBI
or if the link doesn't work just search 'Clare Coe' on YouTube. The backing song, Iris, was the music for their wedding First Dance.
Over the coming months a number of fundraising events are being held to contribute to this fund including : Manchester Survival of the Fittest, Quiz nights, Cake sales and the Manchester 10km run to name a few.
Please use the 'Make a donation' link on the side to support the fundraisers.
